Biomimicry and Science: Applying Nature’s Strategies

This innovative lessons introduce students to biomimicry via numerous striking examples, with connections to core content in chemistry, physics, and biology.

At a time when we need sustainable solutions to solve many pressing local and global challenges, researchers are finding that solutions to many of these problems already exist in nature. Biomimicry is, essentially, looking to nature for strategies to solve human challenges. This curriculum includes 15 unique and engaging biomimicry lessons – four for each of three core areas: chemistry, physics, and biology – as well as a Biomimicry Design Challenge Capstone module that guides students to design nature-inspired solutions to local sustainability and climate challenges.
